Reiko de Vries ha iniziato a studiare pianoforte all'età di quattro anni. Ha conseguito la laurea in arti e musica in studi vocali presso la Tokyo University of the Arts. Dopo la laurea, decide di frequentare un master sotto la guida della Dott.ssa Joan Dornemann al Metropolitan Opera negli Stati Uniti, in quel periodo riceve una prestigiosa borsa di studio dalla compagnia Recruit per studiare a Milano.
Da allora, ha interpretato numerosi ruoli, dalla Regina della notte ne Il flauto magico ad Abigaille nel Nabucco in Giappone e anche in Europa.
Come repertorio operistico che spazia da Mozart (Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflote, Idomeneo), a Verdi (Aida, Don Carlo, La Traviata, Macbeth,Nabucco) da Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) a Strauß (Fledermaus), da Ponchielli
(La Gioconda) a Wagner (Die Feen, Götterdämmerung, Tannhäuser), passando per Bellini (Norma), Donizetti (L'elisir d'amore,Lucia di Lammermoor) e Puccini (Madama Butterfly, Sour Angelica, Tosca,Turandot ,La Boheme).
Ha anche vinto numerosi concorsi internazionali, ha fatto appello alla sua brillante presenza ai concerti, soprattutto all'Asian Vocal Concert al Metropolitan Museum of Art di New York nel 2005, al Concerto di Capodanno alla Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra nel 2008 e alla NHK Radio Recital in Giappone nel 2007 e nel 2012.
È anche apparsa molte volte non solo nell'opera, ma anche nella 9 Sinfonia di Beethoven.
Ha fatto un'apparizione onorevole nel ruolo di Madama Butterfly al Festival dell'opera congiunto Giappone-Corea del 2007 a Daegu, in Corea del Sud.
Mentre è apparsa in molte opere, si è esibita nella prima rappresentazione giapponese al New National Theatre, Wagner "Die Feen" Ada, Bizet "La jolie fille de Perth" Catherine, Menotti "The Saint of Bleecker Street" Annina, Respighi "La fiamma” Silvana, Rossini "L'inganno felice" Isabella.
A giugno dell'anno 2012, ha cantato il ruolo di Erodiade come mezzosoprano, alla prima giapponese dell'opera " Erodiade " di Massenet, che ha portato ad un grande successo.
Al Premio Strega 2020 di Cervo, in Italia, ha cantato nuovi brani del compositore Marco Reghezza, e le brillanti realizzazioni sono state trasmesse su TV Rai3.
La voce di de Vries ha la delicatezza e la flessibilità di un soprano coloratura, ma anche la fermezza e la risonanza di un soprano drammatico. In altezza raggiunge il MI acuto. Con la sua rara e importante qualità vocale e l'espressione drammatica, ha riscosso molto successo con il pubblico e la critica.
Reiko de Vries started learning piano at the age of four. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Music degree in vocal studies at Tokyo University of the Arts.
After graduation, she decided to take master course under the mentorship of Dr. Joan Dornemann in the Metropolitan Opera in the United States, during that period she was awarded prestigious scholarship by Recruit company to study in Milan.
Since then, she has performed numerous roles, from the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute to Abigaille in Nabucco in Japan and also in Europe.

She has also won numerous international competitions, appealed her brilliant presence at the concerts, especially at the Asian Vocal Concert at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2005, the New Year's Concert at the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008, and the NHK Radio Recital in Japan in 2007 and 2012. She has also appeared many times not only in opera, but also in Beethoven's 9th Symphony. She made an honorable appearance as Madama Butterfly at the 2007 Japan-Korea Joint Opera Festival in Daegu South Korea.
