السيرة الذاتية

Bass-baritone Alexander Adams-Leytes made his professional debut in March 2013 with the Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles, CA. His performance has been described as "transcendental" and critics have pointed out that he "never missed a syllable or a note... always creating a plausible justification for his crazy vocal and physical acrobatics". These praises referred to his area of specialization in patter comic singing, playing Dr. Bartolo in a modern Hollywood version of The Barber of Seville. Initially trained at St. John's University, he received his Master's degree in Vocal Performance under the teaching of Philip Zawisza from the University of Minnesota in 2012.
For several summers he trained at the Lyric Opera Studio in Weimar, Germany, under the direction of the European comic specialist Damon Nestor Ploumis, interpreting Papageno, Conte Almaviva, Bartolo, Leporello and Masetto. In December 2014 he starred in the inaugural production for the Gulfshore Opera in Naples, FL in the double roles of the Father and the Witch in Hansel and Gretel. In March 2015 he made his European debut with the Theater Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany, alternating between the roles of Dr. Cajus and Herr Reich in Nicolai's Merry Wives of Windsor and in June of that year he sang his first Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte with the Passion Artists of Vienna. In 2016 he made his debut with the Miami Lyric Opera, performing Dulcamara and the Sacristan, and sang Benoit/Alcindoro in productions of La bohème in the following two years, with Opera St. Petersburg, Martina Arroyo's Prelude to Performance, The Charleston Opera, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas and New Rochelle Opera.
In 2017 he added to his repertoire the roles of Don Magnifico in Cinderella in a return to the Theater Rudolstadt in Germany, and Gianni Schicchi with the Narnia Festival in Italy. He reprised his Bartolo at the Theater Arnstadt in Germany in February 2018, followed by his debut with the Nahant Music Festival singing the role of Papageno in June 2018. In the summer of 2018 he made his Falke debut in The Bat at the KurTheater in Bad Liebenstein, Germany. After a hectic 2019 that included debuts with companies in established roles with Bel Cantanti Opera (Bartolo) and Mississippi Opera (Benoit/Alcindoro) and debuts in new roles including Frank in "The Bat" and a first foray into musical theater with a performance by Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in the third return to the Natchez Music Festival in Mississippi, he, like most singers, was relegated to virtual productions for almost a year and a half, but now he is back on stage again with Opera Maine in the summer of 2021, covering Dulcamara. In the following years he added debuts in roles including a mafia-style version of the Major General in "Pirates of Penzance" with Opera Cedar Rapids and his debut with Opera Festival of Chicago as Tarabotto in Rossini's L'inganno felice in 2022. Since then he has continued to refine his work as a buffo with several performances in theaters from Atlanta and Miami, to Fort Lee, New Jersey and New York City, and added Mustafà in L'italiana in Algeri to his comico repertoire covering the role with Opera St. Petersburg in 2023. He will debut this role in the summer of 2025 with the Winter Harbor Music Festival in Maine
Now with dual citizenship between the United States and Germany, he is establishing a base in Europe along with his American projects, and in 2025 he joined the roster of the Italy-based meOpera Artists Management.
