Biography
Laura de la Fuente (Palma de Mallorca) is a Spanish mezzo-soprano. She began her musical studies at the age of 16 at the Conservatorio de las Islas Baleares under the guidance of Joana Llabrés. She later moved to Italy to further her vocal training with Paola Fornasari, Ornella Pratesi, Roberto Iuliano, and Gloria Scalchi. She currently continues her studies with Ornella Pratesi.
Her artistic career is marked by an active stage presence in the operatic repertoire. She has performed roles including Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) by W. A. Mozart; Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) by E. Humperdinck; Suor Dolcina (Suor Angelica) by G. Puccini; Emilia (Otello), Flora (La traviata), and Fenena (Nabucco) by G. Verdi; Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) by H. Purcell; Adalgisa (Norma) and Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) by V. Bellini; Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) by P. Mascagni; as well as Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) by G. Rossini, the role in which she debuted in May 2025. She has also performed the role of Chica in El anillo de hierro by M. Marqués.
In March 2026, she debuted at the Palacio de Festivales de Santander in Bellini’s Norma as Clotilde, sharing the stage with artists including Yolanda Auyanet, Ekaterina Buachidze, and Andeka Gorrotxategi, under the musical direction of Oliver Díaz.
In the symphonic and concert field, she has appeared as a soloist in works such as Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Marcello’s Psalm XVIII and Magnificat, as well as Vivaldi’s Gloria, Magnificat, and Beatus Vir. She has also participated in world premieres including La terra purificata by M. Traverso, and Vesprals and Camí florit for voice and live electronics, both composed by Ll. Prats.In May 2026, she made her debut in the role of Jutiha in the oratorio Juditha Triumphans by Antonio Vivaldi, under the direction of Maestro G. Fantato Pontini, in Padua.
In the recording field, she has released the chamber music CD Rels i Records together with pianist Llorenç Prats, focusing on contemporary repertoire and works of Catalan origin.
She has worked with renowned conductors including Luis Remartínez, Vittorio Lumbroso, Christian Frattima, Xisco Bonnín, Roberto Bongiovanni, Rolando Nicolosi, José Escandell, and Bernat Quetglas.
She has been awarded prizes in numerous international competitions, including First Prize at the “Rolando Nicolosi” International Competition, Second Prize at the MAP-IMC International Contest in Los Angeles, Third Prize at the “Art Jove” Competition in the Balearic Islands, and a Special Mention at the Concorso Scarlatti in Lithuania. In chamber music, together with pianist Llorenç Prats, she won Third Prize at the “King’s Peak International Music Competition” in London and a Special Mention at “London Classical.”
In 2021, together with her contemporary music quartet, she received a scholarship awarded by Cas Music and the Teatre Principal of Palma de Mallorca. In 2023, she won First Prize at the “Elsa Respighi” International Competition alongside Llorenç Prats, and in 2024 she was a finalist at the “Opus Lírica” International Singing Competition.
She completed her artistic training through masterclasses with Joan Pons, María José Montiel, Christian Frattima, Antonella Cesari, Marta Vella, María Àngels Sarracó, Amelia Felle, Víctor García Sierra, Eva Marco, Fiorenza Cossotto, and Giulio Zappa.
