Baritone: management agency for baritones
meOpera represents baritones, the central male voice with its noble and dramatic timbre, guiding them toward international theatres, festivals and presenters.
The baritone is the central male voice, sitting between the tenor and the bass: a warm, authoritative colour that gives substance to the great antagonists, the fathers, the kings and many tragic figures of the repertoire. meOpera is the management agency that represents baritones, shapes their artistic identity and connects them with those who programme opera worldwide.
What is the baritone
The baritone is the male voice of intermediate range, lower than the tenor and brighter than the bass. The tradition distinguishes the lyric baritone, the dramatic baritone (or "Verdi baritone"), the brilliant or buffo baritone and the character baritone, each with its own weight and range.
It is a voice of great stage presence: it combines the depth of the lower register with the ability to project in the high notes, and it is naturally suited to roles of strong dramatic tension, but also to the verve of the comic repertoire.
How meOpera represents baritones
meOpera supports baritones with a transparent, non-exclusive model: we shape the artistic presentation — multilingual biography, materials, roster profile — and bring the voice to the attention of theatres, festivals and presenters. Live auditions offer direct listening to those who put together the casts.
We do not promise engagements: we create the conditions for talent to be recognised. We advise on the repertoire best suited to each singer's vocal stage and offer an international network built over the years.
Typical baritone repertoire
The baritone repertoire includes emblematic roles such as Figaro in Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Count Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, and the great Verdi figures — Rigoletto, Germont in La Traviata, Iago in Otello, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Posa in Don Carlo — as well as Scarpia in Tosca and Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème. Lyric, dramatic or brilliant: the vocal type guides the choice of titles.
