Martina Spessot

Soprano Italia

Biography

Born in Trieste, she started singing at an early age in various choirs until becoming interested in opera thanks to the mezzosoporano Rozmary Jorganxhi, with whom she studied from the age of 16 to 19 years old. After finishing high school, she decided to focus on an academic career and went to study at university. However, during this time she started working for the Società dei Concerti di Trieste, where she still works today as an Administrative and Production Assistant.

Thanks to this opportunity she was able to reenter the musical world by enrolling as an Opera Major at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste and follow lessons under the maestros Cinzia de Mola, Rosalba Trevisan and Silvano Zabeo. She is currently preparing to finish her last exams to graduate.

While studying this major she also became interested in chamber music when she met Alessandra Carani, which allowed her to participate in two concert-lessons under the maestro Luca Ciammarughi which were also televised by the Italian television network RAI in January 2024. She often plays in the Spessot-Furlan duo with pianist Andrea Furlan, which, in April of 2024, they played a concert recital organized by the Associazione Accademia Ars Nova. In July 2024 they will also play under the same Associazione for the Italian Episcopal Conference’s Social Week in Trieste.

In May 2023 she played the role of Second Witch in Purcell-Britten’s “Dido and Aeneas" in a production organized by the Tartini Conservatory. Other accomplishments include singing as soprano at the choir of Trieste’s Cappella Civica, being the presenter for some of the Società dei Concerti di Trieste’s concert transmitted on the youtube channel of the Società dei Concerti, and going on tour with the Tergeste Ensemble as narrator for Igor Stravinsky’s “Histoire du Soldat”.

She is also co-founder of the Borderless Youth Orchestra along with other musicians she met at the Conservatory, which is known for its multi-ethnic composition and its vast repertoire that spans different periods and geographical influences.

She has also participated in many masterclasses under different musicians, such as Manuela Kriscak, Manuela Custer, Gianluca Breda, Carlo Antonio De Lucia, Michela Bregantin, Paolo Lardizzone, Stefano Conticello, Viktor Rud, and others.

She currently studies under the mezzosoprano Victoria Mikulina to perfect her craft.
