Francesco Pellegrino
Biography
Francesco Pellegrino was born in Savigliano (CN, Italy) on 29th July 1987.
He graduated in Composition and Orchestral Conducting at the Conservatory of Turin in 2013, he achieved a Master in Conducting in 2016, at the same conservatory. His teachers were M° Mario Lamberto for Orchestral Conducting and Alessandro Ruo Rui for Composition. Moreover, he graduated in Translation (Russian and English) at the University of Turin (Italy) in 2012.
Then, he studied under the tuition of important international conductors: Dejan Savic, Antonello Allemandi, Leonid Korchmar, Achim Holub. He also studied choral conducting under the tuition of Maestros Michail Golikov, Jacek Sykulsky, Mario Bustillo, Sander Tamm. He attended the masterclasses organized by "Akademija pravoslavnoj muzyki" (Academy of Orthodox Music) in 2012 and 2013 in Saint Petersburg (RU). In both occasions he achieved scholarships, provided by the Academy itself.
He has conducted several national and international orchestras: Stara Zagora Opera Theatre Orchestra (Bulgaria), Constanta National Theatre Orchestra (Romania), St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Moskovskaja Kamerata (Russia), Belgrade Soloists (Serbia) Rhein-Mein Orchester (Meinz, Germany), London Classical Soloists (UK), Turin Philarmonic Orchestra, Turin Conservatory Orchestra (Turin, Italy), Orchestra B. Bruni (Cuneo, Italy). He has often worked with Opera Classica Europa (Germany) as a conductor. His repertoire includes several chamber and symphonic works: Cantata BWV 150 by J. S. Bach, “Coriolan” Ouverture, Violin Concerto, Romanza op. 40; Symphonies n° 2 and 7 by L. van Beethoven, The young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and Simple Symphony by B. Britten, 5th, 6th Symphony, String Elegy, String Serenade by P. I. Tchaikovsky, Holberg Suite by E. Grieg, 29th Symphony by W. A. Mozart, 4th Symphony by F. Mendelssohn, Bandoneon Concerto “Aconcagua” by A. Piazzolla, Mozartvariationen by M. Reger , Cello Concerto n° 1 by C. Saint-Saens, Octet by I. F. Stravinsky , Siegfrieds Idyll, Meistersinger-Ouverture by R. Wagner. As he has worked several times as a conductor for Opera Classica Europa (Germany), his repertoire has been enriched with many opera arias and duets, performed in several concerts. His repertoire includes also operas, such as Rigoletto and Nabucco by G. Verdi, performed at Constanta National Theatre Orchestra (Romania), Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti, Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini, Don Giovanni di W. A. Mozart, performed at State Opera Stara Zagora (Bulgaria). He has also conducted the ballet La Giara by A. Casella at State Opera Stara Zagora (Bulgaria). He reached the semi-final of the International Opera Conducting Competition “L. Mancinelli” in Orvieto (Italy) in August 2022, with La Bohéme by G. Puccini. He got the Certificate of Merit in Italian Conducting Competition, held in Alassio in April 2026. His operatic experience is not limited to conducting: in 2016 he was the assistant conductor of Maestros J. Lacombe e C. Trinks at Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg (France) in La Juive by F. Halevy and Salomé by R. Strauss. He also worked as an Assistant Conductor, Prompter for Opera Classica Europa (Lorch, Germany), Società lirica “F. Tamagno” (Torino, Italy), Promocuneo (Cuneo, Italy) in such operas as Nabucco, La Traviata by G. Verdi, Tosca, Suor Angelica by G. Puccini, Pagliacci by R. Leoncavallo, Cavalleria Rusticana by P. Mascagni, Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss.
He has had his own music performed in Cuneo, Boves, Lanciano, Torino, (Italy) Izhevsk, Saint Petersburg (Russia). In 2025 he won the 2nd prize ex aequo in International Composers' Competition "F. M. Napolitano" (Napoli, Italy). In April 2014 he won the prize Mezhdunarodnyj chorovoj festival (International Choral Festival) in II mezhdunarodnyj Konkurs kompozitorov "Roman Sladkopevec" (II International Composers’ Competion “Romanos Melodos”) di St. Petersburg with his Hymn to Rev. Sergej for chorus a capella.
He worked with opera choir "P. Mascagni" as a tenor from 2006 to 2014 and he sang in several operas in Savona, Lucca, Rovigo, Bergamo.
He knows English, Russian, French and German.
