Biography

Heather Caddick is a British-American spinto soprano. Having lived in London, Pisa and Berlin in recent years, she is now based in Bolzano, Italy. She studied at the University of Nottingham, where she was awarded the Bernard Slee Opera Award, and the University of Auckland. She then trained on the Opera Works programme at the English National Opera. She currently studies with Susan Bullock and Roberta Cunningham.

Career highlights include singing Contessa Almaviva and Mimì for the Grimeborn Opera Festival, London; singing in recital with renowned counter-tenor James Bowman; singing with English National Opera Baylis (now ENO Engage) in workshops in London schools; Zelenka's Magnificat with the Dartington International Summer School choir and orchestra; Schubert's Der Hirt auf dem Felsen at MusicFest Aberystwyth and the world première of Ian Assersohn’s Song of Songs. Recent operatic roles include Nedda (Pagliacci), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Mimì (La bohème).

In competitions, Heather was a semi-finalist in the 2019 By Voice Alone competition, received the 2017 Walter Kaminsky Foundation Prize (Universität der Künste, Berlin), was highly commended in the 2016 London Song Festival British Song competition and received 3rd prize in the 2014 Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition. She has participated in masterclasses with Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Emma Kirkby, Kaspar Holten, Stephen Barlow, Stephen Unwin, David Parry, Robert Saxton, Bettina Bartz and Marcello Lippi.

Further operatic roles include Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica). Contemporary operatic roles include Soprano - quartet (Terteryan, The Ring of Fire) and premiered the roles of Emily Brontë (Geyer, Glasstown), Lingerer (Antal, Lingerer), Olivia (Patterson, Entr’acte) and Pure 1 (Berry, The Crocodile of Old Kang Pow).

As well as opera, Heather enjoys singing in recital and orchestral and oratorio works. She also frequently participates in opera gala concerts. 

Recent and future engagements include covering the title role in Manon Lescaut and Gretel (Hansel und Gretel) for Rose Opera and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) for Regents Opera.
